THE MOON AND SIXPENCE

Recycled Dutch etching paper.   The English sixpence is now a collected currency.   Will it all be just  paper in the future.... giving the illusion of purchasing power.  See the rime LOW FINANCE by Senior Stuff:  Rinkley Rimes of March 27 2009.

  1. As well the Moon & Sixpence was a book written by Maugham about Gaugin, who I think was a rotter and a cad.

  3. I wonder if the sixpences would be able to buy the cream cheese which they tell us the moon consists of!!! Just home after a twelve hour journey so not too lucid!

  4. The Moon and Sixpence is a short novel by W.Somerset Maugham based on the life of the painter Paul Gaugin. Published in 1919 by George H. Doran Company.

I had acquired a collectible sixpence and coincidentally, at the same time, was studying the phases of the moon while making the piece. The title readily came to mind and was appropriated, as artists are wont to do.
